YMO are simply brilliant. the drumming is so tight, sounds like a drum machine with just a tiny hint of human swing. electronic music in the late 70s was really a turning point for humanity in that music being made in different corners of the earth sounded pretty much the same, based on a new set of universal ideas. special credit must go to Japan for giving us Korg, Roland, Yamaha etc -the instruments needed for all this great music. i'd love to know who invented the tr-808, he deserve a nobel.

Thanks a mil! I checked out the Gypsy Juggler vid. Where/how did you meet them? I met my favorite contemporary Jazz pianist recently (Hiromi) and spoke to her for about 10 minutes. i had so much to say, but I didn't want to hinder her from interacting with other fans ha!

ありがとう!新しい事覚えました。でも、吉田美奈子を歌っているヴァージョンはアメリカのヴァージョンだそうです。本当ですか?

As for the video game you asked about, i thought it was 'actrobat' at first but can confirm that it was called 'Gypsy Juggler' [1978]. Type gypsy juggler into youtube as there is a clip showing the game in action. The roms are also available if you use M.A.M.E :] take care!

Kraftwerk were also a firm favourite but there lack of regular albums and there seemingly 'happy to play in the studio while fans craved albums for years' annoyed me. Even Karl bartos got bored and formed 'Elektric Music' in the 90s tho that was short lived as well. Think i'll stick with ymo tyvm :)

Thank you so much for your kind words. I was at school when i first got my first 12" single (firecracker/technopolis) and never looked back. Now i'm 43 and still love them just as much. The fact i met them this year and got there autographs was the icing on the cake for me! |
